I begin just where I left off. . .

early winter's brooding sky brim full with dirty cotton clouds
shooting colors from the east as the curtain lifts over the lake
and you know how I feel about silhouettes of trees

I'm linking this glimpse of daylight to Skywatch Friday with its many sky views.

'I like trees because they seem more resigned to the way they have to live than other things do. I feel as if this tree knows everything I ever think of when I sit here. When I come back to it, I never have to remind it of anything; I begin just where I left off.'
Willa Cather

  10. Good afternoon Noni. Lovely gray sky. My favorite kind. There is something about a gray sky and gray ocean that is somber, sobering, and intices me to quiet thoughts.

  13. That photo is quintessential early winter. You have captured it beautifully - I can even feel the sharp tang of the cold air in my nostrils, and hear the silence.

I share your love of tree silhouettes and that Willa Cather quote. Not everyone is able to understand the wisdom and patience of trees, and all they have to teach us!

To live in the presence of great truths and eternal laws, to be led by permanent ideals--that is what keeps a man patient when the world ignores him, and calm & unspoiled when the world praises him.
