dining al fresco
I had to stop for these two young turkeys (note the spiky do on the guy on the right) to cross in front of my car on their way to another yard for a snack. They were seen munching in urban Minneapolis in a residential area near a busy 4-lane street. One never knows who you might run into on the road!

Seasonal skies watched
but this is winter6666
winter, 2009 on very frozen Owasso Lake near where we live, taken this week with sub-zero temperatures and diamond flecks of ice in the air. One thing remains the same: the quest for the biggest fish story. Enlarging the photo (ctrl +) will show the brave fishermen parking their vehicles next to the huts on the frozen lake.
Happy fishing!

While I touch the sky...
Most of the time purple isn't a color I wear. However its rich hue dazzles my eyes when I see purple in nature, or in a heavy velvet drapery or the iridescent gleam on the feathers of a swallow.

I think it pisses God off when you walk by the colour purple in a field and don't notice it. [from The Color Purple by Alice Walker]

Purple is another wonderful choice by Blue for her Thursday MeMe, True Colours. Visit her for more purple photos--and join in the fun. Oh, and one more purple as we leave the sublime and enter the world of memories. . .

Unfortunately typing with only one hand (fifth metacarpal fracture) for the time being prohibits me from elaborating on what it was like growing up and spending early adult years only a couple of hours from the west entrance to the Park. But I don't exaggerate when I say it is a magical and dynamic place!Visit Mrs Nesbitt to see other photos that showcase the letter Y. Happy Wednesday!

Happy New Year my blogging friends!
I've been lost in the holiday season with Erica home for two weeks, celebrating Christmas late due to a bus that didn't show up to bring Audrey home, lots of fun, frolic and, of course, food! My new year dawned bright and full of hope. . .until, during an intermission from a Star Wars video marathon, Dave and I decided to go for a walk. The rest is history: on the way home I slipped on an icy sidewalk, broke my left hand and my glasses and some of my pride. . .fast forward to the present:
- I am wearing a splint awaiting the orthopedist's decision to operate or just cast my hand on Tuesday
- my glasses are held together with superglue and I'm learning to see with just one usable lens
- the cuts on my face are healing nicely and
- I'm right handed!
Wishing you all good things for the new year!
