party on!

Spring is nature's way of saying, "Let's party!"
Robin Williams

Nothing gladdens my heart in spring like the first blush of forsythia. And throw in a bit of shy blue and I'm ready to hang up the windchimes and dig in the dirt.
I raise my coffee cup to s-p-r-i-n-g. For more beauty visit Today's Flowers here.

for a song

If you know me you know that in my world blue is a good thing. Lately I've been remiss in posting additions to my pitcher collection from my travels and especially since I've adopted some delightful blue ones. The top left solid blue pitcher matches a 1950's stoneware coffee pot I have [50 cents] and two matching cups I bought for a quarter each at a yard sale. Then there's a unique antique milk glass pitcher I found during my milk glass craze [its over now, or at least until I laid eyes on the pink variety. . .] bottom right from another antique shop coveted because of the blue cornflowers. Bottom left my latest prize in my favorite turquoise color, made in Japan and nabbed for 60 cents at a thrift store.Speaking of blue, I retrieved this photo I took in Chicago of the most charming cat who would laze on a garden fence and pose for me whenever I walked by on my way home each day. I have yet to see such blue eyes on a cat like this guy had. He makes his debut on Misty Dawn's meme, Camera Critters this weekend.

And my gift to you as we celebrate the coming weekend; give him a listen!

day is done, gone the sun

This is a view of our early spring sky as the storm from earlier in the day dissipated and the earth moved away from the sun at the end of the day. We are so lucky, in spite of living in an apartment building, to have this view from our window each day.
That rolling bank of puffy clouds made me think of the mountains in my home state. Wouldn't you know, those wispy lavender clouds made me wish for cotton candy!

This is the front of the D'Angelo Law Library where I worked at the University of Chicago. The whole window cleaning process amazed me and made me grateful for a desk job.

turkeys tiptoeing to town today

Just this very morning on our way around Otter Lake to get to our weekly breakfast spot we had to wait for a group of wild turkeys to pass, including this handsome trio. Sadly the turkey population has grown in these parts and the locals are hell bent on a round up. I don't like to kill anything so I warned these feathered friends to be cautious. I guess that makes me an accessory--like a gravy boat?

Happy Easter weekend my bloggie friends!

made you look!

Just last night a ferocious storm was brewing across the Prairie. Could be a little early for a tornado, but I think I was lucky to catch this view.

A P R I L F O O L S D A Y !
Spring may be creeping back to Minnesota but this photo from 2008 reminded me of what could happen come May when the season of tornadoes is upon us. Or not. I still would rather think about tornadoes some other time because, thanks to El NiƱo, we are enjoying glorious weather, the birds are all back from their winter vacations, noise and industry fills the lakes and skies--which are soft and blue.
Visit Skywatch Friday for many more skies--fact or fiction.
