Today's Flowers amid wintertime

Flowers from an earlier, more colorful time on my little slab garden. Sweet remembrance as we now have snow on the ground from a storm yesterday.

In the bleak midwinter, frost wind made moan,
earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone;
snow had fallen, snow on snow,
snow on snow, in the bleak midwinter, long ago.
Christina Rossetti

To live in the presence of great truths and eternal laws, to be led by permanent ideals--that is what keeps a man patient when the world ignores him, and calm & unspoiled when the world praises him.
