a two story Skywatch Friday

This photo was taken on the morning after our first big snowstorm of the season. Through the buttermilk sky the sun lit up the snow. I had never seen a two story gazebo before I moved to Minnesota either.

Minnesota factoid: did you know that some people here flood their back yards in the winter so their kids can ice skate and play hockey in their own yard? Very cool!

See many more cool skies at Skywatch Friday.

  1. No, I did but it makes sense. And now that you mention it, I have a very vague memory of something similar done during my childhood in northern Wisconsin. Fun times.

  4. Yikes--tell me it's not built that way in expectation of deep snows!

  5. I have never seen a gazebo like this either! It looks like a little fairy house in the snow! Beautiful photo!

  7. We have a single story Cottage Ornee but this is a great building. Here in Massachusetts, at least in our little town, we flood one of the big Fair shed so people can ice skate. The roof of the open shed keeps off most of the snow to cut down on shovelling. No zambonis in town.

To live in the presence of great truths and eternal laws, to be led by permanent ideals--that is what keeps a man patient when the world ignores him, and calm & unspoiled when the world praises him.
