Dreaming of being in California where I spotted these very old cactus plants inside the Mission San Miguel grounds outside of Salinas. The buds reminded me of red potatoes--but then, everything reminds me of food somehow or other!

Factoid: It has been brought to my attention by Maria Berg that these are indeed seeds and not blossoms. Edible at that!
Hi Noni. Considering the snow in your part of the world, I don't blame you one bit for daydreaming about cacti. I was at the same mission a few years ago but they weren't blooming them. Wonderful memories of the place.
ReplyDeleteNice post! Meow!
ReplyDeleteSnow is still plentiful with us too.
A little warmth would not be a bad thing!

Terrific! Love cacti and everything warm. Often wonder why I'm in this long winter/short summer spot. :) And you've just reminded me I have a couple of red potatoes to be used.
ReplyDeleteThey are not buds it is the seed/the fruit of the plant and if you take them at the right time you can eat them and they do taste good.
