In our California travels I stopped at a wayside farm stand in Carmel Valley which belonged to the organic gardening company Earthbound Farms. [the posters above are from their nifty site] These two gorgeous varieties of Passion Flower were growing around the place and since I had just come from November in Minnesota, they seemed to call even louder to me.

So, since I find myself inhabiting that strange place between home and where one has traveled, I offer these beauties for both memes, Today's Flowers and Ruby Tuesday.

Every time I see a passion flower I think of squirrels! I had a purple passion vine in the back yard (before a freeze did it in) and the squirrels would take off the blooms, sit on the fence, and proceed to eat the bloom. Must have been tasty!!!!!

My husband and I traveled the same route once, Noni. It was so full of spectacular scenery! So different form the east coast.

They are beautiful! I'm familiar with the first but have never seen the second. How lovely to be able to travel to another season :-)
