Please don't slam the door!

He who opens a school door, closes a prison.
Victor Hugo

[side door to Oriental Museum, Univ.of Chicago]

D is today's letter for the 4th round of ABC Wednesday and since there are so many d-words to choose from I pick Doors.

This is the front door to the York Central Farmer's Market in downtown York, Pennsylvania. The market has been in continuous use since 1888. We lived in York for five years while Audrey and Erica attended elementary school. Last fall Dave and Erica took a one-day trip up from D.C. to visit old friends and haunts. Here's Erica holding donuts from Maple Donuts, one of York's many Pennsylvania Dutch type donut shops. [They were stale when they finally got to me but delicious in a cup of coffee--the donuts, not my family, although. . .]

Door-watching is my hobby, followed closely by collecting photos of doors' cousin, the gate. Is there such a thing as door watching, you ask. Of course! I snapped these in White Bear Lake during different seasons of the year and have posted them before.
A door is what a dog is perpetually on the wrong side of. Ogden Nash
I spotted this charming garage with an accordion-like door [made from three separate doors]near a lake house on Owasso Lake.

Check out more d-words here, starting with D for Denise, the founder and host of this meme.

A geat set of nice doors !
Two years ago, "doors" were my entry.
I enjoy Victor Hugo's quote and I agree with Him, of course.
Thanks for your visit on my blog.

Doors are very important. They are there to give access to new adventures and on the other hand they can be closed so that you are standing outside in the cold, knocking in vain to be admitted.
Thanks for your visit. I rang my daughter, who lives in the north of Australia, and she told me that the heatwave in the south is not normal.People from her place always go to the south in summer to avoid the heat in Cooktown.

Sorry you couldn't hear the explanation about the didgeridoo and the sound of it. The text is about like this: In the background you hear the mysterious sound of the didgeridoo. This is my didgeridoo. It's made by Roy McIvor, an artist from Hopevale, a member of the Guugu yimidhirr tribe. He is also an uncle of my daughter's ex-husband.He told me how he makes his didgeridoos. He walks through the bush, taps on the trunks of very thin trees. As soon as he hears a hollow sound, he knows that this tree is perfect for the didgeridoo. He cuts the tree, blows out the termites, which are needed to make the tree hollow. Then he starts working on it. He paints animals on it On my didge there are a goanna and a croc. The first time I heard the didgeridoo, I got goose pimples. I got lessons but couldn't manage to play it. It's very difficult for you have to blow and breath at the same time, which is called circular breathing. May be one of you can play it.

These are terrific doors - not a run-of-the-mill door in the bunch! Great post!

What a great choice for today! I loved looking at the doors in Italy when I was there a couple of years ago!

That garage and garage door reminded me so much of my grandmother's which every once in a while I will sneak down the alley in Spokane and check it out. Now somebody put up a big, tall fence so I can't see her garage or backyard any more. sigh.

Noni, I made a mistake. I thought you were the one who couldn't hear the video, but it was Dragonstar. So if you want to delete my last comment, please do so. I am getting old and confused!
