some things never change

My first December in Minnesota was in 2006 when I took this photo of the early morning moon near our apartment . It was an unseasonably mild winter at that point with just a bit of snow now and then. But the natives warned me. . .
Fast forward to early last December when we had this moon and the blue moon at the end of the month. I took this on a snowy morning in nearly the same bunch of huddling trees.
And the Minnesotans knew what they were talking about! This year has been harsh, snowy and very much like 'the old days.'
See more sky views at Skywatch Friday. Stay warm!

Hopefully old man winter will vanish soon. I am really ready for some warmer weather and I'm sure you are too. This has been a harsh winter.

Hi, Noni. Come visit southern New Mexico, get warm! Actually, get warmISH, these days. They tell me spring weather will arrive by the end of next month--I can't wait, because I put in many years in the cold northern climes.

Thank you for sharing. Lovely shots. Brrr.

It's nice to think we can watch the same moon :)

Each year is unique but one thing seems certain, winter will pass. Then we can complain about the heat and bugs and dream of winter.

Lovely Moon pictures. It is 50 degrees here and raining again I would rather have a little snow and blue sky then all of the rain we have had lately.

A lovely comparison of the two shots, Noni. They both convey a bleak sort of cold that we simply do not experience down here in Australia.

great contrast of photos, I do like the blue moon one with the snow flakes.

Very fine photographs, Noni!
Here it's very cold, we had snow, in these days there is sunny weather but on Sunday meteo says some more snow or rain.
Happy weekend!

Ah, the cold of winter. But your images are beautiful. Loved these shots.

Interesting to see the two pictures taken at different times. The second moon shot with surrounding stars/lights coming through the trees is very pretty.
Hope the cold, cold winter hasn't been too much of a shock!

Just remember the old saying, there is no bad weather, only bad clothes.
