Thursday's child has far to go.

Yesterday was Erica Joy's 27th birthday--the Joy is for the joy she has brought into our world. She's always been the, umm, busy one in our family, the one up for a challenge and actually pretty adept at not getting caught at some of her. . .pursuits. Outdoorsy, pyrotechnic aficionado. smarty-pants, saxophone playing, boxer, friend to unfortunate animals and people, generous, silly, energetic cook, med student, sister to Audrey and daughter who is dearly loved.
Her birth flower is the rose but not her favorite. The diamond gemstone of April is perfect--although she'd argue the fairness of the diamond business--because she generally has to work hard to get where she wants to be. But she shines as clear and brilliant as a diamond. As parents, Dave and I are the luckiest.

Happy birth day to you, Noni, and Happy Birthday to Erica Joy!
Reading through this post brought tears to my eyes, knowing. LOVE all the photos... I'm taking it that's you holding a newborn Erica, just so beautiful.

Phooey. I can't remember if you are a "comment approving" blogger or if I just somehow erased my comment.

Okay, I'll try again.

What a loving and insightful birthday tribute to your daughter. Mine was a Friday's child, "Loving and giving." Me, I'm a Saturday's child who has to "work for a living." So sad, so true!

Happy Birthday to Erica!

Every young woman should have a mother who could put together such a loving montage of images and words to express their admiration of and joy in her presence.

Two young women have been richly blessed to have been raised by a mother who instilled them with confidence, and most important, with unquestioned love. For God gathered up all the love that she did not get when she was a child and gave it to her to share with her daughters.
