Johnny Depp meets Skywatch

Sunday the motorcycle took us to WineHaven Winery in Chisago City for a wine tasting. O.K., so the first state that comes to mind when you think wine isn't usually Minnesota, but this winery only imports grapes for their Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and the rest come from this beautiful little valley.

Below is the sky view across a corn field leaving the winery. All in all a perfect day for a ride, a sip or two of rhubarb wine or honey mead, a jazz trio backed by incredibly blue skies and lakes.

See more skies from all over our dear planet @ Skywatch Friday

initially I wasn't making the J.D. connection, so thanks for pointing that out for someone thick like me! very clever on your part, and that's no surprise. beautiful skies Noni. Rhubarb wine sounds so good. for some reason this post is reminding me of a Winona Ryder movie that I've been wanting to re-watch - How To Make An American Quilt. happy SWF to you!

Wonderful shot of wine yard. The sky is great.

That's a beautiful shot. My state is the same way, most people wouldn't associate NC with wine vineyards but we do have them.

Hiya,
You've got Tanecetum in that basket. I just picked some.

Like the Dook, I'm pouting but no blues coming out.
Your blues are magnificent.

Lovely skies and beautiful landscapes. Always enjoy visiting our vineyards here in the northwest -- we do actually have them here, too. Love your captures for the day as always! Happy SWF! Have a great weekend!

Lovely. We have some nice wine/blues and wine/jazz festivals here in southern New Mexico. Never go there on a bike, though!

There are few things better than good shots of clouds and thoughts of wine. I have a friend in Oregon who owns a vineyard, and I've thought seriously of applying for a position as a picker--there's something really appealing about the idea of being there at the beginning.

Many states are growing grapes & creating boutique wineries with much success. In the northeast, VT, ME & NH are lettng the grapes freeze, harvesting, then pressing to create a delicious dessert wine known as "ice wine". It's great! They also produce, during the warm months, regular vintages too. MN is getting in on the action.

What beautiful photographs. I would love to have seen them in person. We have a number of Virginia wineries near our home, but I have need been to visit any of them. I guess I need to make a stop with my camera in hand. The skies above all of those grape vines are stunning. Genie

It sounds like a perfect day out. Vineyards are so neat and attractive. There are a few small vineyards near us producing very palatable white wine - not the first thing you associate with southern England but the saying is that if the land can grow hops (for beer) it can grow grapes.

Ha, see there? I'd missed your post too! (Only not really, because the same "less than a week" rule applies). :-) I am intrigued now, and must put "Try Rhubarb Wine" on my Bucket List. (Not that I'm wanting an entire bucket of it. I'd need to sport a tat like JD's if I were!) I'll bet it's good! I haven't been to a vineyard since we visited one near Memphis, TN many moons ago; another state you don't associate with vineyards and vintners. I was in Sonoma County, CA much more recently, but only got to ride by the beautiful vineyards as a captive passenger. Bummer!

The skies over both the vineyard and the cornfield are so pretty... nice, soft summer skies. I love the puffer clouds, and those grapevines are particularly photogenic.

wondering which blog platform are you using for this site?
I'm getting sick and tired of Wordpress because I've had issues with hackers and I'm looking at alternatives for another platform. I would be fantastic if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.
