More blue skies, from Wisconsin this time. We visited Crex Meadows in Grantsburg where we saw fields full of feasting Sand Hill Cranes as well as ducks sailing around the wild rice paddies, above.
This level prairie terrain was once a glacial lake bed. The water that was once diverted for settlers and industry has been reclaimed here making it a perfect wild place with big, open skies.
WOW. what gorgeous shots Noni. I know that area well - I used to live in St. Croix Falls a bit south of there. and there's a farm near Grantsburg that produces some delicious ($$$) artisan cheese too - they age it in caves. I've been seeing a lot of sandhill cranes standing in fields lately. they must be on the move! glorious skies today. happy day to you!
yes!!!! Love Tree Farm cheese. you know it. I've never tried it but have always wanted to have a taste. I think it's a bit out of my price range though... their website makes the farm look so beautiful. happy day to you Noni!

Lovely photos! It looks like a beautiful part of the world.
In the first I like the water and in the second the sky most :)
Gorgeous big skies - how exhilarating it must be to be in such wonderful country:-)
Great shots - love the first one, so calming to be by a lake. :)
