Can I have extra sauce with that taco, please?

Yes, indeedy. . .that was me sitting in my car in the Taco Bell parking lot, waiting for the sun to come up over the lake yesterday. I subscribe to that old adage that all good things come to those who wait and.wait I did.  It was worth it to see this big sun emerge from those gray clouds.

And, as an added bonus, I received my first mosquito bite of the new season! It might just be a long, long summer...

what a difference an hour makes up north

At 6:30 this morning I took this photo from my usual spot at Caribou Coffee as the sun was pouring in from the east. A lovely sight, warm and full of promise of a sunny day. What a contrast to the photo below taken in my front yard close to an hour later where big fluffy snowflakes are falling.

I had intended to wax poetic as I posted the first photo for Skywatch Friday all about how there is a definite sweetness in March, a little preview of spring and all that. Will save that for next time and link this contradiction to Skywatch Friday here.

Yesterday's sky view between storms was a perfect calmness, monochromatic and voluptuous. The Mississippi ran 'swift and even' without even slowing to watch me watch it.
On my way north again this perfect and gorgeous tree in front of me turned out to be two trees as I walked by. The metaphor was not lost on me that cooperation of each 'half a tree' made for one beautiful and sturdy specimen.

some things never change

My first December in Minnesota was in 2006 when I took this photo of the early morning moon near our apartment . It was an unseasonably mild winter at that point with just a bit of snow now and then. But the natives warned me. . .

Fast forward to early last December when we had this moon and the blue moon at the end of the month. I took this on a snowy morning in nearly the same bunch of huddling trees.

And the Minnesotans knew what they were talking about! This year has been harsh, snowy and very much like 'the old days.'

SkyWatch Friday in St. Paul

55Two views around Como Lake this week66

Up until yesterday we've had blue skies and sunshine in St. Paul. Then storms arrived, including tornadoes in downtown Minneapolis and east of St. Paul with much attendant rain today. Wildflowers have flourished along the lakes as well as much green algae atop which makes the ducks and geese happy. These are my SkyWatch Views for this week.
