frozen beauty

We woke to a frosty world this morning. Yesterday's fog had become spikey bits of frost covering everything. This is the little dish that holds drinking water for the birds who visit our feeders.

Even the rusty rabbit had strange little spines. These little 'creatures' stand watch until the birds return and baby rabbits are born in the spring. That's why I'm linking these to Camera Critters this week.
Frost is the greatest artist in our clime -
he paints in nature and describes in rime.

from summer hats to woolen mittens

My aim is to put down on paper what I see and  what I feel in the                            best and simplest way.   Ernest Hemingway
Behold the autumn version of the pink Coneflowers the little Goldfinches and Chickadees feasted on all summer, now with a light dusting of our first real frost. I'm adding these to the bouquet of Today's Flowers here.

“Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark, in the hopeless swamps of the approximate,
the not-quite,
the not-yet,
the not-at-all.
Do not let the hero in your soul perish, in lonely frustration for the life you deserved, but have never been able to reach.
Check your road and the nature of your battle. The world you desired can be won. It exists, it is real, it is possible, it is yours.” Ayn Rand

p.s. I post this mostly for me because I have another week to wear the splint on my hand and we are expecting another freeze starting this weekend--both events are definitely tolerable, when I consider the alternatives. The photo above was taken during our subzero weather a week before last. Amazing natural art on the apartment front door. . .

Happy Friday!
