sweet home Minnesota

We took our first long motorcycle ride of the season this weekend thanks to a break in the rain. Heading north by northwest as far as Detroit Lakes through the Chippewa Natl. Forest we rode for over 500 miles under bright blue skies and puffy clouds across newborn farmland.
Many small farming communities dotted the map, with populations ranging from 50 to 500 residents. In the town of Wadena, in Wadena County, we drove past this deserted drive in theatre. All that remained was this sign for the Wadena Drive In,  the projection/snack building and weeds.
The sun was setting behind us and I could catch the rosy red reflections on the back of Dave's helmet. I took this on the move but you get the idea. Also, you can see more reds here @ Ruby Tuesday.

I love MN, the non-urban landscape so nice and quiet. Many years ago I had relatives from Fargo that hat a house on a lake near Park Rapids, about 220 miles from the MSP airport; and the rental car drive from through St. Cloud and Wadena (US 71 if I remember). Where a town of 2500 was large in comparison to the sparsely populated landscape. Lovely captures, the open road really open in the MN interior!

oh this sounds like fun, riding for miles on a motorcycle. I wish so much that drive-in theaters would make a comeback. I recently saw one on the edge of a small town in central Wisconsin that was still open. Occasionally you do find them still in business. it's nostalgia at its best. Classic Americana. I'm in love with your blurred ruby photo. it's splendid, and just the kind of photo that when you see it load on your computer you say "oh, wow, this turned out really great". I've never been any farther north in Minnesota than north Minneapolis, but the lake country is said to be beautiful. I say bring on SUMMER, warm days ahead! great post Noni. I hope your week is filled with wonder and joy.

The back of his helmet? An innovative place to look for a shot in motion!

COLOR DILEMMA

Yellow or red—which shall it be?
Red for you and yellow for me?

Perhaps you’d rather have yellow instead—
Which leaves me, of course, with handfuls of red!

Whichever hue you decide to choose,
I’ll take the other—no one will lose!
