praying for rain

September's full moon floating over Lake Superior last Saturday--a peaceful sky view from Grand Portage Chippewa Reservation, Minnesota near the Canada border.
The next day as we rode back to the Twin Cities I took this [shaky] photo from the motorcycle of the sky approaching Duluth. The clouds were full of smoke from the wildfires burning in the Boundary Waters Canoe Wilderness Area near Ely and the sun was fiery amber.  What a contrast with the North shore's blue skies and beautiful sunsets. The fires are still burning.

See more skies of note @ Skywatch Friday.

I hope the rain comes soon and in quantities to douse the wildfires.

on Tuesday the smoke was so thick here from that wildfire. it was hard to breathe. I'm hoping it's contained soon, but the weatherperson has explained that they really don't want to fight it that much - it's a natural occurring fire and good that it rejuvenates the forest. I heard that it snowed/sleeted there last night too. hope it burns itself out soon. that is one beautiful area. happy day to you Noni.

So sad to see so many fires! I, too, hope rain comes soon and enough of it to do some good! Hope you have a great weekend!

Wildfire are tenacious things. I hope the rain comes in sufficient quantity to end them where you are. Your skies are beautiful.

Such lovely skies - but wildfires sounds frightening. Hoping you get rain soon.

Noni, Lovely moon and sky. I hope rain comes soon and douses out those fires. It has been such a long, hot and dry summer in so many places. Mickie :)

A lovely, peaceful photo of that beautiful Harvest Moon! Wasn't it gorgeous? And it looks like you got to enjoy it from a beautiful place!

There have been a lot of wildfires and smoke lately out here, too, and it's distressing. But we got a little rain and fog Wednesday night, and that really helped. I'm hoping that moisture will make its way to you soon, and to everywhere that needs it (while avoiding all the other places that definitely don't!)

I didn't know you have a motorcycle! We had a Valkyrie for a couple of years, but sold it a few years ago, not long after I started blogging. Sure was fun while it lasted! :-) Enjoy the good riding weather while you can, and ride safely! Happy weekend, Noni!

There is so much criticism about how this fire has been fought. I just hope that it is contained soon...a terrible event in so many ways.
