fallen star

I found this star lounging on a bench against the garage of a new house. . .maybe it was to be hung on the clapboards or the owner really liked it occupying the bench. Either way, it is delicious country red and my contribution to all things red at Mary's meme Ruby Tuesday.

the day after

The day-after-Thanksgiving was full of stars in the frosty morning air and then the sky exploded in these welcome hues. This is the sun rising over Sucker Lake near our apartment. . .a sure sign of a good beginning to the holiday season. See more beautiful skies here. Then shout Hooray!

all good wishes

As I stop to count my blessings this week while enjoying the bounty of the harvest, I remember you reading my blog: I am grateful to know you. Happy Thanksgiving!

Seasons greetings!

When I drove to the fitness center this morning and pulled into the parking lot, I saw this magical seasonal scene. Every tree had string after string of white lights. A veritable wonderland. I sighed realizing, 'tis the season. I share all this alliteration because today's letter for ABC Wednesday is S.

cuteness ahead

I took this photo last year when my friend Caroline ran in the rainy Twin Cities Marathon. Then when we had the great hard drive crash of 11/09 it magically re-appeared.** I don't get it. But I do know its better late than never. . .to post on Mary's meme, Ruby Tuesday. See more red here.

little black beauty

On one of our last evening motorcycle rides we were on our way to Stillwater along the St. Croix River when I saw this little beauty in a pen next to this old weathered building. The rest of the small farm with barns and gardens was across the street. The little horse was shy around the camera but I was able to get this shot when I caught her watching Dave on the bike behind me.

Now you see it, now you don't!

Just one more lake reflection photo--I promise--this one is important because it shows how the lakes are beginning to freeze up north here in Minnesota. It won't be long and the fish houses will be up and ice fishing will be in full swing.

Amazed?

I'm not sure if this really could be considered trespassing, but on a walk one day last week I caught this guy watching out the window and zoomed in as close as possible. What a dear fluffy creature and what a life to be a cat!

See more Camera Critters here. And as I read somewhere, 'Have the courage to still be amazed.'

SkyView Friday before the sun comes up

On my way to an early morning dentist appointment I captured this hawk and full-moon sky view before getting 'in the chair.'

Red Sedum wears frost with style while Como Lake below reflects red roofs. I'm finding that red can be found if I look hard enough, even in November. Thanks to Mary for offering a challenge every Tuesday for her meme Ruby Tuesday. See more red discoveries here.

Today's Flower: food for thought

November being what it is leaves few flowers behind, so I'm posting this fine example of Mother Nature's ability to feed both body and soul--in this case, marauding Chickadees. See more flowers at Today's Flowers , the meme brainchild of Luiz Santilli, Jr.

you can't stand in the way of progress

Last week's blue sky seen from a cut-out in the trees made for power lines running across a marshy area at Snail Lake. The colors are pure a.u.t.u.m.n. -- my contribution of a Minnesota sky for Skywatch Friday. See more skies from just about everywhere.

another November day,

another reminder to give peace a chance. Remember the consciousness raising groups in the '70's? Let's raise our consciousness level and ponder the possibilities for peace.

Praying for peace and contentment. Happy BlogBlast for Peace!

I am enamored with footprints left behind by little furry feet and can't leave their images behind without a photograph or two. I've saved these from the past winter. . .with the certainty that there'll be more to come this winter. Thus, my contribution to ABC Wednesday's letter P for 'prints.'
