Seasonal skies watched

Call this summer 20086666

but this is winter6666

winter, 2009 on very frozen Owasso Lake near where we live, taken this week with sub-zero temperatures and diamond flecks of ice in the air. One thing remains the same: the quest for the biggest fish story. Enlarging the photo (ctrl +) will show the brave fishermen parking their vehicles next to the huts on the frozen lake.

I'm grateful to Klaus, Wren, Sandy, Ivar, Fishing Guy and Louise who manage SkyWatch Friday each week so we have all the fun!

Happy fishing!

Maybe they can freeze the fish at once? I have once seen this on Lake Superior.

We have winter too so I'm liking the summer picture best.

Don't you miss the mountains now that you are in Minnesota?

What a range of temperatures and moods. You know, I can't imagine driving a vehicle onto the ice. Not here, anyway--too many fickle days.

We had a chinook wind blow through 10 days ago and it pushed out the cold weather and snow...I was ready for spring...but...another 3 inch's fell a few days after that. Dang! I hate to be teased!

What a contrast these two images make!
I much prefer thinking of the warmth of the first one as opposed to how cold that second must be.

Oh, that's just mind-boggling to me (who does not live near a large lake).....ice being strong enough for vehicles to drive on. Yikes. What was that movie that involved ice fishing.....was it Grumpy Old Men? Well, I hope no one's grumpy in your neck of woods.....or lake.

At first glance it looked like the clouds in the first were snow on the branches. Nice shots both.

Brave fishermen, indeed.
These photos are beautiful. It was a good idea of putting them in contrast. Really like them.
I was also scrolling down on your blog and I must say that the quote by Groucho Marx grabs me:-) You´ve made a nice place here.
Happy skywatching.
