These summer flowers were blooming in the flowerboxes of my Winnipeg friends' downtown loft. The geraniums she planted were supposed to be bright red but came out the pink and salmon you see here. A metaphor for life perhaps? See more red or sem-reds at Mary's meme.
Answer July—
Where is the Bee—
Where is the Blush—
Where is the Hay?
Ah, said July—
Where is the Seed—
Where is the Bud—
Where is the May—
Answer Thee—Me—

Given the winters in Manitoba, any new growth of flowers in the short summer is beautiful. Okay, the colors were changed by nature - yet the multi hued box is lovely, indeed. Nice view from the window of this beautiful urban castle!
The somber background makes the flowers all the more dazzling!
RED OR YELLOW?
If you have a penchant for red,
Then scarlet will go to your head;
But if it is gold
You’d rather behold,
Then plant yellow roses instead.

I love your metaphor for life! Happy July, Happy Fourth!
So lovely those pink and salmon geraniums, a beautiful image indeed!
I like Dickinson's poem too.
You must appreciate your summer flowers more than we do in Oz. Here (Oz) it's still mid-winter but there are pansies growing in the municipal flower beds.
What a nice surprise. The pink and salmon are so warm in the summer light.
Its so nice to remember the cold in the midst of the heat .. lovely post
